When I was younger, I remember that my mom used to watch Texas.
All I can remember was there was this lady named Gretchen and she was in a cave-like place called "Hitopah". I do not think the whole soap was based in a cave but that episode sticks in my mind. My mom used to tell me that Gretchen was gonna get me!
Anyone remember which episode this was from? I would love to watch it on the AOL site. Can anyone explain why she was in "Hitoba"? It scared the crap out of me when I was a kid and I would love to remind my mom of the pain I am in, 24 years later!!!

It wasn't an episode, it was a story arc that ran from fall 1981 to late spring 1982, at least. I was in elementary school at the time and I was an avid watcher of this story. At the end of the story arc, I decided to write the whole thing down into a blank composition book I had, and filled it all up....I was surprised how much I remembered and how far back it went. I also illustrated it with drawings of the adventures of Ruby & Lureen, Gretchen and Mr. Hannibal, the events in the cave in Hitopah, etc., so it's a nice thing to pick up and read tho it exudes with pre-teen naivete about adult relationships.
Essentually the story was about an ancient Indian artifact called the Fire Compass that was covered with runes and which Ruby's boyfriend Beau Baker opened .... releasing a gas that turned him into a mummy. Then followed some comedic hijinks with Lurleen and Ruby trying to get rid of the body, Gretchen trying to get part of the Fire Compass back from them, and then the chase to find the secret underground chambers in Hitopah (which contain a huge quantity of petroleum) towards which the Fire Compass is supposed to guide the owner. It was all a cheap ripoff of Raiders of the Lost Ark (the big hit that summer), but it sure was fun.
Maybe I should post my journal online for others to enjoy.

Hi, it's me again.
Yeah, sure, I'll post it. I'd like to post it to a better thing than filesend, maybe I should just pay the few bucks and get a site...
I'll post a link here or in the imdb board sometime next month (I'm away for holiday at the moment)
